The Loan Company is a Limited Partnership formed in 1974 by its General Partner, and CEO, Steven B. Dillaway, for the purpose of investing in San Diego real estate. The Partnership evolved into trust deed investments in the late 1970's. Today, a minimum of 85% of its portfolio is secured by First Trust Deeds and approximately 90% is adjustable rate loans. Steve Dillaway is an attorney (USD Law School, 1971, Cum Laude), real estate broker, and inactive CPA who has lived in San Diego since 1969. His involvement and enthusiasm for the Partnership is demonstrated by his personal liability for the Partnership's line of credit and the fact that he is the largest single investor in the Partnership. John Lloyd is President of the Partnership. John received a BS in accounting from the University of Montana, an MBA in finance, and graduated from Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. John spent over 12 years in commercial real estate lending at two regional banks, has served as CFO for a real estate developer as well as CEO of a private money lender, and owns/manages a commercial real estate mortgage company. Edward R. Mateer, the Partnership's Chief Underwriter for the past seven years, is in the process of retirement. Ed received a BS in real estate and an MBA in finance from San Diego State University in 1975. He has been involved in all phases of real estate, most of which have been in real estate lending with a large local bank. Ed and his family also have a substantial investment in the Partnership. Laurie Dunlop is a Certified Public Accountant and our Chief Financial Officer. She has been doing the Partnership's accounting since 2000, has a broker's license, is a Notary Public, and has a broad managerial role in The Loan Company. A Limited Partner Committee was established in January of 1989. The Committee meets with the General Partners on a quarterly basis in an advisory capacity. |
