Mission & Overview

Our mission at The Loan Company is "to underwrite, fund, and service a portfolio of real estate secured loans suitable for investors who are seeking a reasonable return with moderate risk and acceptable liquidity."

Our Fixed Income Investment Fund provides our investors a diversified fixed income opportunity through a limited partnership structure. The Loan Company enjoys a 30-year- plus track record of proven success and an impeccable reputation of integrity.

Through the investment fund, The Loan Company offers real estate borrowers a convenient, quick, and reasonably priced permanent loan option not provided by other lenders in the San Diego area. We focus on loans from $250,000 to $3,000,000 for income-producing commercial properties.

Our proprietary underwriting criteria include:

   Solid income-producing commercial properties

   Sufficient real equity in the property

   Borrower’s integrity and experience

   Potential for appreciation

Our Management Team

The Loan Company Partnership is led by Founder and General Partner, Steve Dillaway, who continues to serve in an active role guiding the company as he has since its inception in 1974.  As the largest single investor in the partnership, Steve Dillaway and his family have a vested interest in making The Loan Company a success.  He is joined by fellow limited partner and president, John Lloyd, who brings 20+ years of experience in commercial real estate financing and lending and CFO Laurie Dunlop who has beenwith the company since 2000.

The team meets with a committee of limited partners on a quarterly basis who serve in an advisory capacity showing accountability with the goal of maintaining the highest degree of integrity possible.

The partnership and management team embrace a conservative, yet sensible investment philosophy.  Through the years, The Loan Company has emphasized efficiency, productivity, and professionalism. We have aimed to keep our staffing at just the right level for peak efficiency and to keep our overhead low, thus increasing the bottom-line to investors.
